Frequently Asked Questions

What do I need to bring for my charter?

Bring your friends, your drinks, ice, items for swimming, sunscreen, and iPod or MP3 player if desired.

What do I wear?

We recommend comfortable resort-style wear to get in the spirit. No high heels or boots, barefoot is best!

What is onboard?

Our boats are very well equipped, with large eskies, fridges and a freezer, depending on the vessel. A BBQ is available with tools; the galley is equipped with two ovens and a cooktop. Wine and champagne glasses, cups, platters, bowls and serving tables are included.

What type of experience does Barefoot Charters provide?

Barefoot Charters is the height of sailing comfort and luxury. Spacious bathrooms are equipped with hot and cold fresh running showers, and 240v electricity, flat screen TV with DVD, and WiFi are available on board. Interiors come with plush lounges to relax on, and daybeds on the large open deck.

Where do we board?

Barefoot Charters can dock at numerous wharfs in Sydney including: Rose Bay; Rushcutters Bay; Manly; Middle Harbour Yacht Club; Neutral Bay; and King Street Wharf. Contact us to request a specific pick up location close to you.

Where do we go?

Our boats are yours to explore Sydney’s iconic harbour, and the Captain can recommend the best secret spots. Choose to cruise under the Sydney Harbour Bridge, and drop anchor in a calm bay with a commanding view of the city, or sail into a hidden cove with a private beach.

What about safety?

Barefoot Charters undergoes an annual safety check, and our fleet of vessels have been well tested on open ocean voyages. Barefoot Charters carries state-of-the-art safety and emergency equipment, and is fully equipped with life jackets for all on board. The Captain has lived and worked on boats all his life, and has all required licenses, training and insurances. The capable crew are trained to the highest standards to ensure our guests’ safety.

Can we swim?

Yes! Barefoot has excellent access to the water, with duckboards, standup paddleboards, and other water toys available. The Captain knows many hidden swimming spots and can provide recommendations.

Do we need to know how to sail?

Not at all. The Captain and his crew can run the boat and set the sails, however guests are encouraged to take the helm or trim the main! Swabbing the decks can also be arranged.

Is food included?

BYO is encouraged. If serving alcohol, substantial food must be served. Platters, trays, and bowls are provided, and the crew can assist in serving. Catering can be arranged prior to your charter, with cheese, fruit, dessert, and BBQ platters available, or gourmet cocktail-style dinners. A guest chef can be arranged for a memorable food experience on board.

Are drinks included?

BYO is encouraged, however drinks may be pre-ordered and delivered to the boat prior to your charter. For BYO, please supply ice.  An esky, two fridges, and a freezer, as well as all utensils are provided. A temporary bar license can be arranged with waitperson.  A temporary bar licence can be arranged for larger corporate events.

How many people can be catered for?

Our vessels are licensed to carry up to 30, 70 and 200 guests plus crew members. Children are safe to join, with specialised life jackets on board, and railings surrounding the boat. Elderly and less mobile passengers can cruise in comfort with plenty of spaces to relax aboard the Barefoot. Unfortunately we are not equipped to allow for wheelchairs onboard. Please let the Captain know if children or less mobile passengers will be joining you, so we can select the most appropriate wharf.

Can Barefoot be hired overnight?

Overnight accommodation can be arranged for up to six people. Breakfast will be included.

Is Barefoot available for filming?

Barefoot is set up especially for filming and film productions, with a dry camera room and workshop, and access to film, TV and production gear on board. The Captain is an award winning underwater cinematographer and adventurer, with over 17 years-experience exploring Australia.
